WEEDWEEK CALIFORNIA PRO
What should California do about hemp?
California lawmakers are weighing a bill that would require intoxicating, hemp-derived products to be regulated much like licensed cannabis and sold in dispensaries. They appear motivated to address the rise of hemp-derived cannabinoids, which have emerged as a significant threat to state-licensed cannabis nationwide.
Any final law will have to navigate the highly complex and unsettled market for hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids, and withstand interpretations that parse everything from judicial rulings to the molecular structure of the compounds involved.
The implications for California’s, and the country’s, REC industries are immense.
