Golden State public universities seeking cannabis research funding need to submit any questions related to the Bureau of Cannabis Control’s request for proposals by Thursday at 11:59 pm. Projects “related to the implementation and effect of Proposition 64” will be paid for by sales and cultivation taxes.
Prop. 64’s passage sets aside $10M yearly for the study of the weed world we’ve entered. In total, $30M in research funding is available.

- The RFP falls into specific categories: criminal justice, public safety, economic and environmental impacts, public health, and the cannabis industry itself. A detailed description of the research subjects can be found in Revenue and Taxation Code 34019.
- October 19 is the application deadline, with grant notification scheduled for November 3.
