BIDEN MAKES IT OFFICIAL
Following the recent leak that the Justice Department plans to move cannabis to Schedule III, President Biden endorsed the decision. He called it a “monumental action…an important move towards reversing longstanding inequities.”
Marijuana Moment
The U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion on rescheduling. Its findings included guidelines for the DEA and a finding on the ongoing United Nations treaty question.
- The DEA also issued a notice of proposed rulemaking, explained by Harris Sliwoski attorney Vince Sliwoski.
The biggest tangible consequence for the industry remains the likely neutering of industry-hated tax rule 280E. But bank reform advocates continue to search for a path through Congress.
