SCOOP: Calif. DCC hired pesticide testing help after LA Times story
Weeks after a June LA Times/WeedWeek investigation into pesticide-contaminated vapes prompted Gov. Gavin Newsom(D) to express “complete confidence” in the state’s top cannabis regulator, the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) hired another state agency to teach it how to test vape pens for pesticides.
The two-year, $985,000 contract, which was shared with WeedWeek, requires the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to develop methods, standard operating procedures and related materials for testing cannabis concentrates for pesticides, and then train DCC staff on those methods.
