When a rural California town of about 11,000 gets its first dispensary, the community feeling is different from when yet another cannabis retail outlet opens in West Hollywood or Berkeley. Having long pressed their faces up against the window of legal weed, these consumers — patients particularly — are celebrating access and a newfound ability to extract themselves from illegal transactions.
