Two teens in Milton, Ontario suffered apparent opioid overdoses while smoking what they believed was dry flower cannabis, purchased from a third party.

- The two—a 16 year old female and an 18 year old male—were smoking what bystanders said smelled like cannabis when they fell unconscious, vomited, and suffered seizures, before they were revived by police administering opioid-overdose-reversing drug naloxone.
Globe and Mail, CTV News - If in fact what they consumed was cannabis accidentally contaminated by or deliberately cut with opioids, it will be the first confirmed instance of an occurrence widely misreported by police departments.
Snopes, Leafly, Globe and Mail - Police do not yet know whether the teens had consumed any other drugs that might have been contaminated with opioids prior to smoking the cannabis.
- Asked why they publicised the story before identifying the source of the overdose, police told the Globe‘s Mike Hager they wanted to make sure teens knew not to use illegal drugs alone and to call 911 if a friend may be experiencing an overdose.
