About This Job

The Senior Corporate Counsel will help to accelerate the momentum of Dutchie’s growth by providing legal advice and support on a wide variety of matters including but not limited to insurance, customer transactions, privacy, compliance, and strategic partnerships. In addition to strong legal skills, we're looking for someone that thrives at building relationships as this role will provide extensive interaction with senior and executive level business partners. The position will report to our General Counsel and will support other team members on an as needed basis.

What You'll Do...

  • Act as a trusted advisor for commercial, partnerships, payments, and other functional teams
  • Be a leader on our growing legal, compliance, and public policy team
  • Conduct legal research into high priority areas, identifying and evaluating business and legal risks, and finding creative ways to mitigate them while achieving business goals
  • Advise product, sales, and marketing teams on growth opportunities, existing products, and new product launches
  • Draft and advise on policies, procedures, processes, systems, governance, and internal controls related to payments and financial service products
  • Work closely with leadership to develop guidance and resources for more consistent and scalable legal support 
  • Actively collaborate with a wide variety of teams at Dutchie, including product, engineering, compliance, finance, and marketing, on a range of issues related to market expansion, compliance, and product development
  • Stay up-to-date on U.S. financial and cannabis-related regulations to provide proactive guidance on trends, risks, and opportunities

What You Bring...

  • A graduate of an accredited law school with at least 5+ years as counsel in SaaS, Payments or FinTech
  • Scaling/ growth mindset and experience
  • In good standing and licensed to practice law as a member of a US jurisdiction
  • Able to handle a broad range of strategic matters and work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, and transparent environment
  • Develop strong relationships based on trust with team members
  • Ability to make decisions and provide advice/explain the rationale for the decision to a curious and empowered team
  • Possess strong communication skills, especially via an internal wiki, Slack and Zoom (it’s how we communicate)
  • Have superior organizational skills
